Dave’s Music Discovery #7
“Said and done” — Quentin Miller
This sounds like leaving the club at 4 am. Contemplative and dreamy; sobering up after a wild weekend.
“Shot my baby” — Daniel Caesar
The Killing of Two Lovers (2020) dir. Robert Machoian
“Peaches” — Jack Black
This song has burrowed itself inside my brain and will probably never leave. Jack Black is a treasure.
“Yo Digo Que Las Estrellas” — Silvio Rodriguez
Reminiscent of a bedtime story. Reminds me of Otis Redding with a hint of Joan Baez. The guitar can put me in a coma.
“Of Another Kind” — Winston Surfshirt, Milan Ring, Jerome Farah, Panna Cotta
Could’ve been in Idlewild. Sounds like early Black Eyes Peas (complimentary). Swings and sways. Put this in the new Aristocats.
“WOOF MEOW” — Saiming
A wobbly vibe. He raps like he’s ice skating; elegant, sleek, and sharp.
“Orange County Punk Rock Legend” — The Garden
If the puppets from ‘Don’t Hug Me, I’m Scared’ made a band and practiced their sets in a burning garage, this is what they’d make.
“Dream Hill” — CASIOPEA
I can see why YouTube has suggested this band to me in the past year. The last 50 seconds sound like podracing on the rainbow road. Shouts out to BobnLarry.
“BREADWINNER” — Floyd Fuji, Topaz Jones
Sometimes men want to provide. Gender role aside, there’s a specific kind of depression that comes when you realize you’re not able to take care of yourself; let alone the ones you care for. If I only had more money.
“black enuff” — redveil, JPEGMAFIA
Shaka Zulu warrior music. Black is confidence. Black is power. Black is beautiful. Black is enough.
